Top 10 Vinyl Releases of 2014

Here it is. No muss, no fuss... my top 10 vinyl releases of the year. This was really damn difficult to keep to 10 so instead of just going with my gut from 1 to 10, I tried to be diverse, (almost to a fault). I felt it was important though because this blog is beholden to no genre so I must keep the horizons broad. I will freely admit, of the 3 components of this blog, music, (mostly of the underground variety), is what I keep up with most. I'm still doing a lot of catch up with comics and who knows what year a beer was originally released in? Not me, and that's why I'm only doing my top 10 albums. Anyway. Here we go... in no particular order...

Well here goes take two. This post was supposed go up like 3 or 4 weeks ago but then Blogger deleted all my text and I got busy with other things and so it's coming now. I guess there is a little light in all the darkness. Some light is easier to find and some darkness isn't all that clear but we search none the less.

Record Store Day and Two Roads Nor' Yeaster

Today is a big day. Not only is it Record Store Day which means "Vinyl, Vinyl, Vinyl" but Two Roads Brewing Company is having their Nor' Yeaster event which means "Beer, Beer, Beer". Now I understand that there isn't much to do with comics going on today but I feel like 2 out of 3 is good enough to do a blog about such a special day.

Just got some new vinyl and some great beer shipped in.  There's a little bit of haze to everything on today's post.  Sometimes you just have to let the evening wash over you.  Time to sit back relax and let the day go.

Wo-Fat: The Black Code / Elijah Craig 12 yr old Bourbon / Thunderbolts:No Quarter

Well it sucks outside... But inside it's awesome! We've got the fuzzed out doom blues of Wo-Fat's The Black Code. Thunderbolts "No Quarter" and a big ol' glass of Elijah Craig 12 year old bourbon.

Frank Sinatra: Come Fly With Me / Hudson: Corn Whiskey Old Fashioned / X-Men: Days of Future Past

Work is done and now it's time to chill. Got my Hudson Corn Whiskey Old Fashioned, X-Men "Days of Future Past" (yes, it's because that's the next movie) and a little Frank Sinatra "Come Fly with Me". I mean, shit, who doesn't love Old Blue Eyes?

It's been about a year since Red Over Red was released so tonight I'm spinning my own record, reading Universe X and drinking a Manhattan made with Revolution Rye. Not a bad start to the week.

Rogue Dead Guy whiskey, the new Lee Ranaldo on vinyl and the first trade of Warren Ellis's Freak Angels. All of these things fit together perfectly!

Thelonious Monk: It's Monk's Time / Hendricks: Martini / Y the Last Man

Monk on the turntable, a Hendricks martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives and a whisper of blood orange bitters and a Y the Last Man trade paperback. Yup my evening already rules.
